Facial feminization surgery, or FFS, developed largely in light of transsexual “male to female” surgery.

The male face distinguishes itself from the female face by its bone morphology: stronger developed eye sockets and forehead, more prominent cheekbones, a stronger and squarer chin, a more prominent Adam’s apple, deeper skin creases (forehead, nose and chin), more defined eyebrows, stronger nose etc.

All these elements which constitute the face can form the subject of, possibly combined, maxillofacial surgery: various forms of malar osteotomy, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, lipofilling, implants, larynx surgery,…

The male face also distinguishes itself from the female face by its hair growth: beard and moustache or specific bald areas (temples, crown). Depending on the case, treatment may consist in permanent hair removal by laser or hair implants (mini- or micro grafts) and thus offer a solution for this difference in hair growth.

These various procedures soften the face and will therefore give a more feminine appearance.
