A mastopexy lifts breasts affected by ptosis i.e. sagging breasts which do no longer have their natural round shape.

This procedure repositions the breasts while retaining the size of the breasts. This means that after surgery the breast will still have its original volume.

In minor ptosis cases the procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic with a small amount of sedation if required.

For more serious cases of ptosis the procedure could take place under a general anaesthetic.

The procedure takes about 2 to 3 hours and is usually performed in day surgery and requires no hospitalization.

The scars are situated around the areola and a small vertical line runs from the areola to the base of the breast.

Work incapacity : 2 to 3 weeks

This procedure does by no means affect the sensitivity of the nipple or the areola or the erogenous sensitivity and does not affect breast feeding.
